Mrs. Kadijah Amoah is the Chief Executive Officer for Aker Energy Ghana Limited, the first Ghanaian woman to lead an oil and gas exploration and production company. Her promotion to the top seat of the company came via an announcement by Aker Energy AS.
“This sends a strong signal that Aker Energy is committed to become a fully Ghanaian operator managed and run by Ghanaian employees. Mrs. Kadijah Amoah has as Country Director proved her drive, intellect and passion for her native country and the company and we are looking forward to her management of this transition”, says Håvard Garseth, CEO of Aker Energy AS.
“For the Ghanaian people, we need to get in control of our own destiny and it starts with mastering the development and operation of the vast energy resources we have. The 700 million barrels of undeveloped oil in our block and the adjacent AGM block have the potential to transform Ghana, not only the economy but also the competence base. The latter can also be applied over time in other sectors such as the renewables sector”, says Mrs. Kadijah Amoah.
“I am humbled by this honour, but also glad that Håvard and his very experienced technical team will continue to support and safeguard the technical delivery until all technical knowledge and competence have been fully transferred to my home country”, says Mrs. Kadijah Amoah.
She is a member of the Executive Management Team of Aker Energy AS in Norway, and holds directorships in affiliated AGM Petroleum Ghana and Aker Ghana Investment Company. She is also a council member of the Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber.
Prior to joining Aker Energy, Mrs. Amoah was a Lawyer and a member of the Banking and Capital Markets Team at Clifford Chance LLP, Germany. She previously worked as Head of Investments and Business Development at the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. She was the Government of Ghana lead of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and Government of Ghana lead of the U.K Ghana Business Council.
Mrs. Amoah holds a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science and Sociology, LLB (Hons), and an M.Sc. in International Business from the University of Ghana. She also holds a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development in Rwanda, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. She is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and she is a member of Oriel College.
Kadijah is an alumnus of the International Leader’s Programme of the U.K Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She is an Eisenhower Fellow and a member of Oriel Law Society, Oriel College, University of Oxford and the Oxford Business Alumni Network.
