LOWANI CHIBESAKUNDA – CEO of Citibank Zambia

Global lender Citi on 08 April,2020 appointed Ms. Lowani Chibesakunda to Head its Zambian operation taking over from Ferdinand Zauma. She becomes the first female Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Citibank Zambia.

Chibesakunda is a seasoned banker with experience over a decade and half whose career genesis commenced in Citibank from Junior to Senior Relationship Manager rising all the way up to Head of Corporate and Investment Banking before she acted as Chief Executive Officer after Ferdinand Zauma exited.

She holds a BA (Hons) Financial Services from West of England, Bristol University , MBA from Herriot Watt University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Her experience spans across South Africa, China and Zambia.

Born and raised in Zambia, Lowani Chibesakunda’ s enriching Citi career begun 21 years ago. Prior to this role, she led the Corporate Bank business for Citi Zambia for 3 years. She has also had the privilege of working in other Citi presence counties such as South Africa, China and the United Kingdom. Lowani was appointed President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia in June 2020, making her the first female President for the Chamber

Lowani, prides herself in being a strong advocate of leading by coaching, mentoring and in having strong customer relationship skills. Lowani holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, degree in Financial Services from the University of the West of England Bristol, Certificate in Banking from the Chartered Institute of Bankers – UK, Certificate in Leading Customer Centric Growth from the Wharton School University of Pennsylvania & Certificate in Operational Excellence from MIT Sloan School of Management. In her spare time, Lowani is an ardent gardener and values family time
