Bell Riberio-Addy is a Ghanaian-British Member of Parliament (MP) of the United Kingdom and Shadow Minister of Immigration. Riberio-Addy has used her platform to address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities while also sharing her solidarity with the demands of Black protesters in the UK and across the world. She openly advocates for the release of detained immigrants as well as rent freezes and the extension of the UK’s eviction ban, and engages with her constituents to provide key COVID-19 information and updates.

She resonates with strength, resilience, and a relentless commitment to justice. Her remarkable journey from grassroots activism to becoming a Member of Parliament (MP) in the United Kingdom stands as a testament to the power of determination and the pursuit of social change. Born and raised in Brixton, a vibrant multicultural community in South London, Bell Ribero-Addy witnessed firsthand the inequalities and social injustices that plagued her neighborhood. Inspired by the civil rights movements of the past, she felt compelled to make a difference and fight for a fairer society. Her journey into politics began with grassroots activism, engaging with community organizations, and championing causes that affected the lives of ordinary people.

In 2019, Ribero-Addy’s perseverance paid off when she was elected as the Member of Parliament for Streatham, a constituency with a rich cultural heritage and a vibrant mix of residents. Her victory marked a significant milestone, as she became the first Black MP to represent the area. This historic achievement not only shattered barriers but also inspired marginalized communities across the country, showing them that their voices and experiences could be represented at the highest levels of government.  As a Member of Parliament, Ribero-Addy has wasted no time in making her mark. She has consistently advocated for affordable housing, improved public services, and a fairer immigration system.
